Embracing Our Purpose: The Story of Helping a Client and Finding Fulfillment in Serving Others

Recently, I had an experience that deeply touched me and reaffirmed my purpose as a financial advisor. It involved a client whose journey was both heartwarming and poignant—an experience that emphasized the true power of connection and service, even across distances.
The Unexpected Bond
It all started during the pandemic when online platforms became our main avenue for interactivity. That's when I met a wonderful client through a lead-generating Facebook campaign. She was living in Davao but was working as a teacher in China. Due to the lockdown, she found herself back in Davao, which gave us a chance to connect. Our initial connection was entirely virtual, mostly on Zoom, but it was the start of a meaningful professional relationship.
A few months into our connection, she reached out to me with a request that resonated with my calling. She wanted to secure a life insurance plan for her mother. Despite never meeting her in person, I wanted to ensure her mother's future was as protected and secure as possible. After careful assessment, I designed a plan that not only fit their budget but also included coverage for critical illnesses.
The Challenge and the Reflection
Fast forward to a few days ago—she contacted me regarding her mother’s condition. Her mom was in the ICU due to renal failure, and our conversation took a serious turn. It was a hard discussion because they were preparing for both a critical illness claim and a possible death claim. This kind of conversation is never easy, but it underscored what our work is truly about.
Sadly, her mom passed away. It was a bittersweet moment—not because I was happy, of course, but because I recognized the importance of being there for clients during their toughest times. I was grateful to have played a supportive role, knowing the insurance proceeds would help cover hospital costs and assist them financially during such a difficult period.
Discovering the Greater Purpose
This situation made me pause and think about the broader impact of my work. It reminded me that there are countless individuals who need compassionate and skilled advisors to prepare them for life's uncertainties. This responsibility fuels my commitment to helping clients plan for unexpected challenges and support them through their journeys.
Through this experience, I've become even more resolved in my dedication to reaching as many people as possible, offering them the guidance and protection they deserve. It’s gratifying to contribute positively to people's lives and assist them not just financially, but emotionally as well.
